Case Study

From Website Rebuild To Organic Discovery

Developing a travel website around the destinations, experiences and different customer needs the business serves.

An established travel business needed a stronger website foundation. Virtually Created rebuilt its website on WordPress, then continued developing the structure and content to support how prospective customers research and choose their travel experiences.

A Website Built For More Than The Business Name.

The new website provided a stronger foundation for presenting the business and its travel experiences. But early search evidence showed that organic visibility remained predominantly associated with people already searching for the brand.

The business served a much wider range of customer interests. Some travellers begin by researching a destination. Others are looking for a particular type of experience, itinerary or specialised travel arrangement. These different enquiries needed recognisable places within the website, with clear relationships between the information customers were researching and the experiences available to them.

Developing The Website Around How People Search.

The work progressed through several connected areas of the website.

New Search Opportunities Began Appearing.

The changes to the website began producing evidence in Google Search Console.

One of the clearest examples was the Company Retreats page, where monthly search impressions increased from 88 to 296. The page was appearing for searches including Corporate Retreats Kruger, Executive Retreat South Africa and Company Retreat South Africa.

The same development was visible across other parts of the website. The South Africa destination page increased from 67 to 111 impressions, with its average position improving from 9.40 to 7.14. The Packages hub increased from 58 to 106 impressions.

These were early-stage results, yet specific to the work undertaken. Destination pages were attracting destination searches. Package content was gaining visibility, and a dedicated corporate retreat offering was reaching searches from a different commercial audience.

For a website previously reliant on branded discovery, that was a measurable development in the range of searches through which prospective customers could find the business.

A Website

That Continued Developing

After Launch.

The subsequent work developed how destinations, travel experiences, specialist offerings and customer search behaviour connected within it. The result was a more coherent website structure, supported by early evidence of broader non-branded discovery.

For this project, website development and organic search informed one another. The website did not have to remain fixed at the point of launch.
